Hi

My father, Anthony Miceli, was an industrial arts teacher and assistant principal at Clinton Place Jr High. Don't know if it was at the same time you were there. He was at many Newark schools during his teaching career.

The name sounds familar but I can't say for sure. The Annex, as it was called was for one year. Then you went to Weequahic for the other 3.

Went to Clinton Place a year or so after it opened and what a beautiful school it was. I remember the green chalk boards the "glass"bridge
cooking room was amazing (Mrs Torre was the teacher...) Had 2 gym teachers one dark haired and the other this beautiful blond woman (started my quest to be blond shortly after) can't remember their names now....also went to the friday night dances there and had such great times
I can still sing the school song....what a beautiful place and time it was..
Took the 14 Clinton Place bus up from Bergen St everyday...hope to hear from others who went there!....CT

Hi J,
"Nestled in newark on a busy street stands a school that can't be beat
Clinton place oh clinton place your banners raised on high we sing to you a song of praise your name will never die".......Thats about as much as I can remember...Also trying to remember names .....Arjenziano, Weiss
(Gail and Iris) Tommy Ruzzano, Gloria Murray....On the walk home use to stop at a place for knishes and cokes on Horthorn Ave....had a Mrs Torre
for home eck class...took either the 14 Clinton Place or the 13 Clinton up to school each morning.....Going from Bergen St grammer and its "ink wells" to green black boards and phones in each room was a real amazement for me.....Did you go to any of the friday night dances at CP ?
All I can remember about the PAL was walking up alot of steps to get to the top floor ....hope to hear from you again

It's been a long time and I'm glad I stumbled across this forum. I attended 1959-61, and those years were formative ... Friday night dances and playground basketball, knishes on the way home, and a couple of teachers. Then on to Weequahic for a few months before moving on. I still have my yearbook though.
