Ralph J. Colyer, 71, formerly of Edison, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007, in Jupiter, Fla. Viewings will be held on Friday, March 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Boylan Funeral Home in Edison. A Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, in St. Matthew the Apostle R.C. Church in Edison. Burial will be private. Ralph was born and raised in Newark and then lived in Edison for 32 years before moving to Florida 12 years ago. He was a veteran of the Korean War and received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1962. He was a 1964 graduate of Rutgers University and a lifetime member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. Ralph retired from the National Telephone Directory Corp. in 1988, where he served as vice president of finance. He was a member of the PTO of the Edison Eagles High School football team and a past president of the Edison Falcons Pop Warner Football League. He was an avid golfer and woodworker, and his hobbies included coin and stamp collecting. Ralph, who was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Grace M. Colyer, is survived by his mother, Violet Colyer of Nazareth, Pa.; a daughter, Donna Horvath and son-in-law, Joseph, and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Stephen and Jennifer, of Lakeland, Fla.; a son, Ralph Jr. and daughter-in-law, Christine, and his grandchildren, Brian and Michael of Alpharetta, Ga., and a daughter, Lisa Colyer of Branchburg, N.J. He is also survived by a sister, Linda Leuser, and 12 nieces and nephews.
